This has been translated from the original Swedish press release “Dags för Per Gessles album ‘Sällskapssjuk’ där han sällskapar med flera duettpartners.”

It all started when Per began writing and recording a new album in Swedish, his first in seven years of new material. Eventually, the idea of an album of duets with some of Per’s favourite voices was born.

A first taste came in February when “Beredd” with Molly Hammar as duet guest. On 25 October, it’s time for the new album “Sällskapssjuk”, which offers a total of thirteen tracks, nine of which are duets. Per says:

In a way, it seems to be my destiny ever since Marie Fredriksson and I started working together in Roxette – my songs always get that little bit better when another strong personality comes into the picture and adds their unique thing. I look forward to sharing this musical journey with the listeners and hope they feel the joy and energy we have created together.

The upcoming album was recorded in Halmstad with local musicians; Magnus Helgesson, Fredrik “Gicken” Johansson, Mats Persson and Per Thornberg as well as Per’s old mates Ola Gustafsson, Clarence Öfwerman and Malin My-Wall. As the title suggests, the album consists mainly of duets with a number of dazzling guests: Molly Hammar, Albin Lee-Meldau, Uno Svenningsson, Helena Josefsson, Lisa Miskovsky, Amanda Ginsburg and Lena Philipsson.

In addition to Per’s new album, he is also currently working on “Sommartider”, the film about Gyllene Tider, the musical “Joyride: The Musical” and earlier this year it was announced that Per will take Roxette’s song catalogue on tour in Australia, South Africa and selected cities in Europe in 2025. The tour will feature the classic Roxette band and vocal partner – Lena Philipsson. Per continues:

“Sällskapssjuk” is a very exciting album and project for me. It’s a wonderful challenge both as a songwriter and producer to try to put together the puzzle of different voices and talents.
