In their home country they are making a huge splash, here in Germany they are still an unknown quantity: Swedish pop duo Roxette present their German single debut with “Neverending Love”.
Roxette – that’s Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson, both well-known figures in the Swedish music scene. Until 1985, Per Gessle was the singer and frontman of Gyllene Tider, Sweden’s most successful pop and rock group of the eighties. Gessle wrote songs for Frida (of Abba), among others, and is one of his country’s most renowned songwriters.
Marie Fredriksson started her career a few years ago as a background singer and released her first solo single in 1984. Marie’s second solo album is currently at the top of the Swedish charts.
In 1986, the two appeared as musical partners for the first time. Per Gessle wrote “Neverending Love”, a real pop earworm with dancefloor qualities.
