Gyllene Tider: Most popular in Sweden

DEBUT: 1978.
PLAYING STYLE: Self-written pop with real melodies and Swedish lyrics.
HISTORY: Per and Mats played with tape recorders, made their own versions of foreign pop songs. Called themselves Graperock. Sent cassettes to Expressen, among others, and thus got their name spread. Changed their name to Gyllene Tider in 1978, got a record deal and had immediate success with “Flickorna på TV 2”. Today they are Sweden’s most popular pop band.
FOREIGN WORK: Tours in Norway and Finland. TV appearance in Denmark.
LP RECORDS: “Gyllene Tider” and “Moderna Tider”, both on Parlophone. They also appear on the compilation albums “Glitter, glögg och rock’n’roll” and “Parlophone Pop” and on the cassette “Radio Parlophone”.
SINGLES: “Gyllene Tider” (the very first EP on the Halmstad label CMP), “Flickorna på TV 2”, “Ska vi älska, så ska vi älska till Buddy Holly”, “När vi två blir en” and “(Kom så ska vi) Leva livet” on Parlophone. In addition, the EP “Swing and Sweet” was issued with the LP “Moderna Tider”.
BIGGEST SUCCESS: “Moderna Tider” has so far sold 225,000 copies in Sweden.
AUDIENCE RECORD: 20,000 people at Liseberg last summer.
CIVIL STATUS: Everyone in Gyllene Tider is a bachelor.
FAN CLUB: Gyllene Tider’s old fan club has been cancelled because it proved too difficult to manage. The group has no fan club, but if you send 3 kronor and 75 öre in stamps to Gyllene Tider, c/o Artist-Service, Box 140 35, 70014 Örebro, you will at least get signed idol cards.
